Bollywood circles have long been curious about the debut of Govinda’s son, Yashvardhan Ahuja, who has so far kept a low profile despite belonging to one of Hindi cinema’s most celebrated families. At a time when star kids are entering the industry in quick succession, Yashvardhan’s journey has been slower, though not without preparation. Recently, in a candid chat with
ETimes, Govinda’s wife Ssunita Ahuja opened up about her son’s long-awaited debut, his rigorous training, and the one piece of advice she’s given him regarding comparisons with his legendary father.
Ssunita expressed immense pride in her son’s dedication, revealing that he has been working tirelessly on his craft. “Yash is preparing himself very well, he’s working very hard. He dances well. He acts well. And very soon, next year probably, we will see him on screen,” she said.
The conversation also gave a glimpse into the close bond between mother and son. Ssunita shared that Yash frequently involves her in discussions about scripts and subjects. “Yash only asks me, ‘Mom, this is the subject, this is that.’ We have discussions at home,” she revealed.
Her feedback, she added, is always honest and constructive, meant to help him develop his individuality.
And when it comes to Govinda’s towering legacy, Ssunita has been very clear. “I told him, don’t copy Govinda. I don’t want my son to be tied as Govinda’s son. You have to make your own style,” she emphasized. While acknowledging the pride in being Govinda’s son, she believes it is vital for Yashvardhan to create his own distinct identity in Bollywood, an industry that often typecasts.
Her faith in her son’s potential was evident when she boldly declared: “He will make a better name than Mr. Govinda also.”
Govinda and Ssunita have been in the news for the past few days as rumours of their divorce began doing the rounds, but the news has been squashed bu Govinda’s lawyers.
