In a social media post, the members mourned Brent Hinds and wrote, "We are in a state of unfathomable sadness and grief. … Last night, Brent Hinds passed away as a result of a tragic accident."“We are heartbroken, shocked, and still trying to process the loss of this creative force with whom we’ve shared so many triumphs, milestones, and the creation of music that has touched the hearts of so many,” the band stated.Last but not least, showing their support towards the grieving family, the band mentioned, “Our hearts are with Brent’s family, friends, and fans. Brent Hinds is primarily recognized for his contributions to Mastodon, a band he co-established in 2000 with bassist Troy Sanders, guitarist Bill Kelliher, and drummer Brann Dailor. After many years of success, including a Grammy award, Hinds departed from the band this year.
